Seven radio/Internet
programs are presently produced by Jon Fine Sports Productions. We not
only are the on-air “talent”, but are responsible for its features,
interviews, the promotion of the programming, and the marketing
(advertising sales) of these programs.
Jon
does not have much talent, but he is on-air for 3 of these 7
productions! SportsGumbo.net, this web site, is also a Jon Fine Sports
Production…We haven’t designed it, but are paying for it!
Our programming
includes Central HS Football broadcasts,
Denham Springs HS Football and Basketball
Broadcasts, Episcopal HS Football
broadcasts, Monday Morning Quarterback,
Plaquemine Sports Weekly, The Dru Nettles Show
and The Sid Edwards Show. These programs can
be heard on a variety of radio stations in the greater Baton Rouge
area. They all can be heard, live, on the Internet, right here, at
SportsGumbo.net.
Jon is proud to serve
as a marketing representative for
SportsRadio-1310-KEZM-Lake Charles. In this capacity, he has formed
the “Dollar A Holler” Business Club and the SportsRadio-1310-KEZM
Savings Club.
To show he is not just
completely a sports guy (just 99.9%?), Jon has a table-tops marketing
company that is still in its formative stages, Prestige International
Table Tops Advertising. It has installed table top advertising at
Tramonte’s in Baton Rouge and hopes to have its second restaurant—Fox’s
Pizza Den in Central—operational in the Fall of 2010.
Our e-newsletter,
SportsGumbo.net Newsletter, provides a weekly line-up of programming and
features columns from Scott Osborne and Dennis
Dearie. Jon is on sabbatical, but hopes to resume “Fine Ideas” in the
future. If you’d like to receive our free weekly newsletter, please
e-mail
Jon@SportsGumbo.net.
In year’s past, we
have been involved in: SportsTalk/SportsGumbo Radio—a daily sports talk
show that once aired 2 hours a day in 5 of the 7 largest markets in
Louisiana, Bayou Bash broadcasts, bus trips
to away LSU football games, an LSU pre-game radio show, an LSU post-game
basketball radio show, Live Oak HS and
Walker HS Internet broadcasts,
Central Coaches Corner/Livingston Parish Weekly/THE
High School Sports Show, co-produced (with Ron Castille) the
Calcasieu River Big Bass Bonanza fishing tournament, co-promoted a
baseball card show, printed a newsletter, broadcasted
Ascension Catholic HS softball broadcasts, did Wheelchair Basketball
radio broadcasts and Baton Rouge Community College baseball on radio.
Charitable endeavors
we’ve been involved with have included raising $10,000 for the American
Red Cross Katrina & Rita Relief, generating over $2,500 for the schools
we covered on THE High School Sports Show via THE
High School Sports Show Weight Loss Challenge and promoting
Wes Watts rideathon for St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital. Our all-time favorite promotion was
Morris Family Reunion Night.
Jon Fine Sports
Productions was founded in 1987 in Lake Charles LA. We’ve been in Baton
Rouge since 1991. It has been an eventful existence! For more of the
sordid details of Jon Fine Sports Productions, please visit our Show
History page (which is in the process of being updated). For a little
flavor of what Jon was up to prior to the formation of Jon Fine Sports
Productions, please see Jon Fine’s BIO.
