Says his beautiful wife Jessica is
helping him realize his dream (rest of world mystified why she chose
him)...Born August 1970 in Baton Rouge...raised by his wonderful
grandmother, the late Merrye Jane White, DBA Mamie (and her switch!)--Jason has
did eventually find the switch and hid it from her...Father Allen Van
Buskirk told young Jason "You can make 6 figures and hate your job or
make 30 thousand and love what you do." This has forever salary
capped Jason at $30 thou--yet Jason would never have found a women
like Jessica to work 24-7 and pay the bills without this
advice!...Barely a graduate of Tara High School, class of 1988,
Jason's teachers would refer to him as a student that had a drive and
passion..to end up in jail someday...Ended up at Southeastern
Louisiana for 4 years he really can't remember. 1995 graduate of SLU,
majoring in Communications. Credits professor Mike Applin as his
mentor (largely due to his being only SLU prof not sending Jason to
remedial classes). Active member of Kappa Alpha order providing Jason
with many free drinking events...Somehow managed a 3.0 GPA...Upon
graduation, Jason worked several advertising gigs, CO-hosted a weekly
TV sports segment on "Around Town", before joining the SPORTSGUMBO
team in August 2004. Fooled Jon Fine into CO-hosting show in December
2004...Marketing Genius (editor's note: geniusity (sic) however is
confined to marketing)...Says his 2 greatest challenges are to 1. get
Jon Fine to give up his typewriter and 2.) get Jon a date. Jason says
he's making progress on the first one. The second goal is proving to
be elusive!... Resides in Baton Rouge....Wife Jessica, children Taylor
and Ian, stepchildren Hannah and Harrison. They're all much better
looking than Jason.
Jason Van Buskirk CO-hosts SportsGumbo Mon, Thurs & Fri,
8am-9am on radio stations in the River Parishes/Baton Rouge (KKAY, 1590AM), New Orleans (ESPN, 1560AM) and Lake Charles (KEZM, 1310AM). Most weeks, Jason is on Mon, Thurs and Fri.
