One of the few people without the last name of
Watts to be in any major administrative capacity in city of Central in
the last 50 years…Athletic Director of entire City of Central School
System after amazing 3 year stint as A.D./head Football Coach at Central
HS…Coached these 2 sports and was head Basketball Coach of Wildcats in
2009-2010 season!...Was a slacker in spring of 2010 by not coaching a
sport…Let epic turnaround of Wildcats Football program that struggled
for much of the 80’s, 90’s and 00’s, going 30-7 during the 07-09
seasons. This included 2 district championships and 5A state semifinal
and quarterfinal appearances in 08 and 09 respectively…The
Sid Edwards Show co-host Steve Johnson, a
Defensive End Coach on Coach Sid’s staff, takes credit for these 30
wins... Publicly Sid will be supportive of Steve. If you ask Coach Sid
in private, he will blame Steve for the 7 losses…Had some hair when he
took over Central position. 3 years later, his hair has not turned
gray. It has, um, see above…Won 3 state championships at Redemptorist
HS, 2 in football, 1 in basketball. In fact, won football and
basketball titles in same year—2002-2003 school year. Went 73-17 all
told as head football coach of the Wolves. His teams there were a
perennial Louisiana high school power… Remarkable 104-5 record as head
Freshman coach of Catholic High School from 1986-1996. With the Bears,
he was one of Warrick Dunn’s early mentors…Has had 1 year stints as head
guy at (Alexandria) Menard HS and (New Orleans) Jesuit HS…Coached
basketball (as an assistant) at Nicholls State in 1996…Great organizer.
Master motivator. Kids will run through walls and do summersaults for
him. Known for delegating responsibilities to very strong staffs…Has
these skills tested by The Sid Edwards Show co-host Steve Johnson on a
weekly basis…Married to Beanie, with 4 children—Cody, Delaney, Chase and
Jack Ryan… Is seemingly rumored to be returning to Catholic HS as Head
Football coach on an annual basis…Sought assurances from
Jon Fine Sports Productions that if he became the
head coach at Catholic HS, he could still host The Sid Edwards Show…Has
terrific, understated sense of humor. Editor/Producer
