Not to be left behind by
technological advances, Jon Fine Sports Productions is now tweeting scores
and updates from its Central HS and Denham Springs HS football game
broadcasts, which air on the Internet at SportsGumbo.net. (Denham games
also air on the radio on The Score, 1210AM). To encourage participation
and have some fun between the two schools, there is presently a contest
taking place to determine who has the most Followers—Denham Springs HS or
Central HS. It’s THE SPORTSGUMBO.NET TWITTER CHAMPIONSHIP!!
SportsGumbo.net broadcasters Jim
McChristian and Josh Ward are handling the updates. Jim does color
commentary on Denham Springs HS broadcasts. Josh is the play-by-play
announcer on Central HS games.
How do you get involved? It’s
easy. Just visit the website, SportsGumbo.net, and click Twitter. Then,
either register for updates from Central HS or Denham Springs HS, or
both. You’ll receive updates from the football games from the school(s)
from which you registered. If you’d like, you can also post your
comments.
There are 4 quarters to this
football….er, twitter contest. The first quarter concluded last Monday,
10/26, with Central leading 7-3. The First Half ended on Monday, 11/2,
with the Wildcats up 18-14. The third quarter ends this Monday, 11/9, at
noon. And, the final score, The 2009 SPORTSGUMBO.NET TWITTER CHAMPION
will be determined on Monday, 11/16, at noon.
You can keep track of the contest
results by visiting SportsGumbo.net, then clicking Twitter and then on
your school to see how many Followers it has. Also, the next 2 Thursdays,
see this publication for the third quarter and final scores.
Jon Fine Sports Productions will
donate $100 to the athletic department of the winning school. Much more
importantly, though, may be the pride the winning school, its students,
staff and fans will have in the knowledge that they have more Twitter
Followers than their arch-rival!
Who has more Followers? Is it
Denham Springs HS or Central HS? It could get competitive. There could
be some good-natured banter between the
students/fans/staff/alums/followers of the 2 schools. It should definitely
be fun. It’s THE 2009 SPORTSGUMBO.NET TWITTER CHAMPIONSHIP!! |
